5 MONTHS JOURNEY
Month 1
Listening & Pinyin Initials
We open with story-based listening exercises to build focus and comprehension. Pinyin initials (声母) are introduced systematically so children can start decoding Mandarin sounds immediately.
Month 2
Pinyin Finals + Character Recognition
Finals (韵母) and whole syllables are covered, completing the full Pinyin system. Alongside this, children begin to recognise high-frequency characters and read vocabulary.
Month 3
Picture Description & Oral Fluency
Structured oral practice — children learn to observe, describe, and express complete sentences from picture prompts. Confidence to speak aloud grows week by week.
Month 4
Reading, Writing & Stroke Order
Short passage reading and comprehension tasks mirror real P1 work. Handwriting focuses on correct pencil grip, stroke sequences, and radical recognition for neat, accurate characters.
Month 5
Sentence Building & P1 Readiness
Word-to-sentence practice, nursery rhyme recitation, and a full consolidation of all skills. Children leave the programme ready to listen, speak, read, and write on their first day of P1.
